01/11 – 8PM – MLT – Beneath the Capital: Underground Valletta by Night

Uncover Valletta’s underground secrets during this exclusive evening opening of Underground Valletta on 1st November 2025, as part of the Dark History Weekender.

Embark on an immersive 45-minute journey that goes through the capital’s subterranean world. Experience the city’s resilience during its darkest hours. Descend into centuries-old cisterns and reservoirs excavated after the Great Siege of 1565 in fear of another Ottoman attack. Walk through the wartime shelters carved beneath the city to provide cover from the thousands of tonnes of bombs dropped over Malta during the Second World War.

Tours start every hour between 6pm and 9pm:

• 6pm & 8pm – guided tours in Maltese

• 7pm & 9pm – guided tours in English

It is important visitors wear closed comfortable shoes for the visit (Visitors wearing high heels, sandals or flip flops will not be admitted).

Children under 6 years of age cannot be admitted to Underground Valletta.
Children who are between 6 – 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
